The GDRD is an independent California special district approved by voters in 1988. Our goals are to develop a community park in each established community as well as a regional park complex. The GDRD is a rural area of El Dorado County. The "Divide," as it's commonly called, is a landmass dividing the north and south forks of the American River in the California Sierra foothills. It covers 412 square miles and has a population of approximately 13,400.
