The 2011 Women’s and Co-Ed Summer Softball season has come to a close. The men missed out on a sports event opportunity; we hope they return next year. It was a great season thanks to all the players and spectators. Community members joined in the fun this year just to watch and enjoy the Snack Shack goodies.
The women’s teams Scott’s Automotive vs. Pirate 4x4 were in the playoffs this year with the final score of 15-13 and Scotts Automotive taking the win. The Co-Ed championship game was between the Buffalo Saints vs. Friday Night Beer with the final score of 14-5 and the Buffalo Saints taking home the victory.
This September, the two first place teams from each division and women’s 2nd place team will participate in the 25th Annual League Championship Series Tournament. This tournament is for the twenty seven leagues in the greater Sacramento area. It is an opportunity for teams to come together and compete with other leagues. GDRD is pleased to be part of the tournament.
A big “Thank you” goes to Nadia Buchwald for providing a wonderful snack bar for the teams and spectators. It fast became a favorite eatery for the teams, their families and the community at large.
If you would like to get involved with the adult softball league GDRD partner group Divide Recreation Association (DRA) is looking for board members. Feel free to contact Mary Sartori marysartori@gmail.com. DRA is responsible for installing the new play equipment GDRD and the kids attending the games say “Thanks”.
